Azerbaijan`s national flag has been raised outside San José City Hall, the State of California, to mark the 23rd anniversary of the country`s independence .
Speaking to the flag raising ceremony, Nasimi Aghayev, Consul General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles, highlighted the history of Azerbaijan`s independence. He also spoke of Azerbaijan`s achievements after the country restored its independence.
San José Mayor Chuck Reed described the raising of the Azerbaijani flag outside San José City Hall as a remarkable event. He noted the importance of developing U.S.-Azerbaijani relations.
Head of San José-based Azerbaijani Community Center Mehriban Mammadova said the Azerbaijani flag will be raised outside San José City Hall every year on this day to mark Azerbaijan`s independence.
