“One of the activities of our diplomats is to increase awareness of international community about Nagorno Karabakh conflict”, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev addressed the third Congress of heads of diplomatic missions and consulates, APA reports. The President noted that diplomats had more responsibilities on the implementation of the country’s foreign policy successfully. He called the officials of Azerbaijani embassies in foreign countries to make close cooperation with state institutions of countries, where they function and provide information about Azerbaijani realities and make efforts directed in the security of political and economical interests of the country.
Head of State added that diplomats should focus on Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Ilham Aliyev stressed that many successes had been achieved in these directions and added that Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity was recognized at all levels and international community supported solution to Nagorno Karabakh only within the framework of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity. The Head of State assessed Azerbaijan’s role in global energy projects carried out in the region and stated that the country increased its role not only in the region, but in the whole world.
The President commissioned diplomats to implement further duties. Spokesman for Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry commented on outcomes of the Congress and told APA that there was not serious change in foreign policy of the country. He added that activity of Foreign Ministry had been debated and assessed. To him, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, Deputy Foreign Ministers Araz Azimov and Hafiz Pashayev attended the Congress. The Assembly discussed Armenian aggressive policy, security issues, regional and military-political issues.
