Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree approving the law proposing amendments to the law on labor pension.
The law on amendments was adopted by the Azerbaijani Parliament on March 10, 2017.
The proposed amendments envisage an increase in retirement age for holders of all professions, except for police and military personnel. The law reflects an increase in seniority for civil servants from 15 to 20 years, for prosecutor from 25 to 35 years and for holders of other professions for 5 years. The retirement age is increased and differentiated with the age limit required for a labor pension.
The retirement age will be raised to 65 years within 4 years for men and 10 years for women. In other words retirement age will increase annually by 6 months per year till 2021 for men and till 2027 for women.
The law will come into force on 1 July 2017. The amendments do not apply those who have already retired.
