On November 6, Minister of Emergency Situations, Colonel-General Kemaleddin Heydarov met with Dutch Minister of Infrastructure and the Environment, Ms. Melanie Henriëtte Schultz van Haegen-Maas Geesteranus, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, APA reports.
Kemaleddin Heydarov informed the Dutch minister about the activities of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as well as of its structures. He noted that the relevant agencies of the two countries have close cooperation in prevention of emergency situations and elimination of their consequences. The minister emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in water resources management and prevention of floods.
Ms. Melanie Schultz van Haegen-Maas Geesteranus, in her turn, noted the importance of developing relations between the two bodies.
Later on, Kemaleddin Heydarov and Ms. Melanie Henriëtte Schultz van Haegen-Maas Geesteranus signed a “Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation on water resources management between the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment of the Kingdom of the Netherlands”.
The Dutch minister is expected to familiarize herself with the activities of some institutions of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
