The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has condemned the violence against Azerbaijani citizens in France and hopes relevant authorities will take action on this issue and that the country’s law enforcement agencies will promptly investigate the crime and bring culprits to justice, a statement of Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.
Two Azerbaijanis – Head of the House of Azerbaijan Mirvari Fataliyeva and Vusal Huseynov were beaten by representatives of the Armenian community of the French National Assembly during an event titled ’25 years after Sumgait: the present situation and future prospects for the people of Nagorno-Karabakh’, organized by the Armenian community in France.
Members of the National Assembly of France who witnessed the incident remained indifferent and did not intervene.
The employment of violence against Azerbaijani citizens by the Armenian lobby abroad and its instigators once again confirms that activities undertaken by the Azerbaijani side to inform the world community on the realities of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict causes their concern, the statement said.
Despite these acts of violence, the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan abroad and diaspora organizations will continue work to bring the message of truth about the atrocities committed by Armenia against the Azerbaijani people, the Foreign Ministry said.
On Wednesday, the Azerbaijani Embassy sent a note of protest to the French Foreign Ministry over beating of two Azerbaijanis in the building of National Assembly in Paris, the Embassy told Trend on Wednesday.
“We strongly condemn this brutal, violent incident, carried out by Armenian diaspora activists represented in the French parliament, a symbol of the country. We expect reasonable attitudes from the chairman of the French National Assembly and the French state. Moreover, we hope that such events will not repeat in the future, the identity of those responsible will be determined and they will answer before the law, “an Embassy statement said on Wednesday.
