Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with the chairman of the UN General Assembly Sam Kutesa as part of participation in the 69th session of the UN General Assembly, the Azerbaijani foreign ministry said Sept. 24.
The relevant issues on the agenda of the Assembly, as well as cooperation issues were discussed during the meeting.
Mammadyarov said that Azerbaijan will actively participate in the work of the Assembly and its committees. The issue of the situation in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan is also on the agenda.
Mammadyarov informed about the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and its consequences. He stressed the importance of implementing the UN Security Council resolutions.
Kutesa appreciated the activity of Azerbaijan in 2012-2013 as a non-permanent member of the Security Council and the attention paid to the problems of Africa. He expressed his confidence that the close cooperation with Azerbaijan will continue as part of the current session.
