Azerbaijan`s Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov has met EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Herbert Salber in Basel, Switzerland.
During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments in the South Caucasus, as well as current state of the negotiations on the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The two also exchanged views over the large-scale provocative military exercises conducted in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan by Armenian armed forces after the last meeting of the two countries` presidents in Paris. They noted that such provocative behavior does not serve to the resolution of the conflict and negatively affects the recent positive indications observed in the negotiation process.
Hailing the current state of relations between the European Union and Azerbaijan, FM Elmar Mammadyarov said Azerbaijan has strategic partnership ties with certain EU member countries. The Minister stressed the importance of elevating Azerbaijan-EU relations to the strategic partnership level.
