Azerbaijani counselor of state meets OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Baku

Counselor of state of Azerbaijan for multiculturalism, international and religious affairs Kamal Abdullayev has met OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Baku Alexis Chahtahtinsky.

 

They exchanged views over Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev`s thoughts he sounded during the interview to the Russia-24 TV channel on Azerbaijani multiculturalism, traditions of tolerance in the country, ongoing recent processes in Islamic world, as well as study and recognition of ongoing genocide crimes in the world, and future projects to be jointly implemented by the OSCE Baku Office and Baku International Multiculturalism Center.

 

Ambassador Chahtahtinsky hailed President Ilham Aliyev`s address to the attendees of international conference on “Strengthening religious tolerance (Azerbaijan`s model of religious tolerance and existing challenges in the OSCE area and beyond)” co-organized by the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Baku, the government of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Caucasus Muslims Board and the National Commission of Azerbaijan for UNESCO last moth in Baku, and expressed gratitude to the head of state for his sensibility to the event. According to the diplomat, the foreign delegates hailed the common situation in the country.

 

The Ambassador spoke of his activities towards prevention of ethic and religious confrontations, study of genocide crimes at the educational system of various states, strengthening of enlightenment on terrible actions, including xenophobia, anti-Semitism and Islamophobia.

 

Speaking on the activity of the Baku International Multiculturalism Center Kamal Abdullayev said the center was focused on enlightenment of the people, adding: “the center was established under President Ilham Aliyev`s Order on study of historic roots of terrible ongoing global tendencies, preventive measures against them, protection of tolerant and multicultural atmosphere in the country, prevention of terrible streams, including anti-Semitism and Islamophobia from taking roots in Azerbaijan.”

 

He underlined the subjects “introduction to multiculturalism” and “Azerbaijani multiculturalism” would be included to the next year education programs of Azerbaijani and some foreign universities.

 

The sides hailed mutual cooperation and stressed the importance for future relations to conduct joint projects.
