Our representatives have successfully performed their “Running Scared” song belonging to Swedish authors. Azerbaijan’s representatives at contest Eldar Gasimov and Nigar Jamal performing in front of European society under scene name “El&Nikki” has qualified for the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest final.
At the I semifinal along with Azerbaijan attended also Turkey, Russia, Albania, Croatia, Finland, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Lithuania, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Serbia, Switzerland, Armenia.
Of the 19 contestants, who took part in the first semifinal, ten finalists, representing Azerbaijan, Russia, Georgia, Serbia, Lithuania, Greece, Switzerland, Hungary, Finland and Iceland, were chosen by the jury and sms-vote.
Eurovision-2011 song contest organized in high level at the Esprit-Arena in Düsseldorf. Germany paid serious attention to the organization of the contest. At the first semi-finale Esprit-Arena were protected by special protection service. Unlike previous contests arena «Esprit-Arena» did not show video clips devoted to country-participant of the competition. Between performances of songs were shown video clips dedicated to the cities of Germany. At the same time, before the performance each country the slogan of the current contest “Feel your heart beat» (Ürək döyüntüsünü hiss et) were sounded in each country’s motherland. Before Azerbaijani representatives’ performance two twin sisters living in Hamburg city of Germany voiced the slogan of “Feel your heart beat» in Azerbaijani language.
Note that at the II semi-final of the contest that will be held on May 12, will attend 19 representatives. Moreover, generally 25 country will fight for the first place.
