Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has met with Johannes Hahn, the Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy & Enlargement Negotiations and a member of the European Commission.
During the meeting, Elmar Mammadyarov presented to Johannes Hahn a draft agreement on strategic partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the European Union, the Foreign Ministry told APA on Thursday.
The sides noted the existence of Azerbaijan’s strategic partnership with the majority EU countries, stressing that the document is likely to open up opportunities for Azerbaijani-EU cooperation to develop strategically.
Elmar Mammadyarov also spoke to Hahn about the negotiations aimed at settling the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, emphasizing the importance of the EU demonstrating a clear and unequivocal attitude toward Azerbaijan’s fair position on the conflict.
The sides then had an exchange of ideas on regional issues of common interest.
Note that, the draft agreement on strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the EU has been sent via a note to Federica Mogherini, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission.
