The Azerbaijani Ministry of Taxes has launched a pilot project for applying e-accounting to municipal taxes and payments.
Taking into account that within the development concept of ‘Azerbaijan 2020: Looking to the Future’, one of the priority issues is the use of ICT in state and local government bodies.
This is in addition to the strengthening of information security in accordance with the minister’s order (Dec. 25, 2013) and the Ministry of Taxes will start the implementation of the pilot project for applying electronic registration of individuals including payers of local taxes including municipal and payments.
Three municipalities – Binaqadi in Baku, Saray in the Absheron district and Shamkir will be involved in the project, according to a message from the ministry posted on its website on Jan.8.
Within the project it is planned to hold seminars in the municipalities within three months in order to clarify the rules for the registration of individuals as payers of municipal taxes and to conduct e-accounting of taxes and payments.
Additionally, appropriate measures will be taken to examine international best practice in order to provide technical assistance for the implementation of electronic registration.
In accordance with the minister’s order, heads of territorial tax authorities have been ordered to ensure the holding of appropriate seminars for employees of tax service authorities of other municipalities.
