Azerbaijan, Iran to discuss issues of prisoners’ extradition

Adviser to the Minister of Justice and head of the department on work with the judicial authorities of the Ministry of Justice of Iran Shahrukh Hidayati will visit Azerbaijan, Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pak Ayeen told Trend Dec.8.

 

He said that the Iranian delegation led by Hidayati will arrive in Azerbaijan Dec. 14.

 

During the visit, the advisor will meet with representatives of the ministry of justice of Azerbaijan, where the issues of the extradition of prisoner citizens of the two countries, as well as other issues will be discussed, according to the diplomat.

 

It is reported that currently, about 130 Iranian citizens serve sentence for crimes related to drugs in prisons of Azerbaijan. Another 52 Iranian citizens await a court decision, the informed sources told Trend.

 

At present, some 14 Azerbaijani citizens serve sentence in prisons of Iran, the sources said.
