Azerbaijan, France to sign agreements on cooperation in four spheres

A number of bilateral cooperation agreements will be signed during French President Francois Hollande’s official visit to Azerbaijan, French ambassador to Azerbaijan Pascal Monnier said on May 2.

“These documents will relate to the cooperation between our countries in the areas of environment protection, ICT, energy and transport,” the diplomat added.

“Hollande’s visit to Baku will take place in the coming weeks,” he added.

“At present, we are preparing the drafts of the relevant agreements,” he added. “I am confident that the cooperation between our countries will develop successfully.”

The French president will visit Azerbaijan as part of his tour of the South Caucasus countries.

President Hollande’s confirmed his intention to visit Azerbaijan at the meeting with Azerbaijani ambassador to France Elchin Amirbayov earlier.

A wide range of issues on political and economic cooperation are planned to be discussed during the visit scheduled for May 11-12.

The trade turnover between the two countries as of the first quarter of 2014 increased by more than a half up to $370.179 million. Some $334.52 million fall to the share of exports.
