In December last year 35 trespassers were detained in 28 cases in Azerbaijan, press service of State Border Service told APA.
20 detainees were citizens of Azerbaijan, 3 – Iran, 3 – Turkey, 3 – Kyrgyzstan, 2 – Uzbekista and one citizen from each country such as Kazakhstan, Russia, Georgia, and Moldova.
9 persons were detained over 5 cases of violating border regime and 9 persons were detained in 6 cases in the Caspian Sea.
252 persons wanted by law-enforcement bodies were detained and handed over to corresponding bodies.
During the month, the smuggling of drugs with total weight of 28.215 kilograms was prevented in 16 cases. On December 6, Lankaran district residents, Huseynov Fuad Ismayil, 1970, and Baghirov Ilgar Gurban, 1978, were detained in VAZ-2106 car (state number AZ 44-BN-668) in the service area of the frontier post in Bilasuvar village of Bilasuvar region. During the inspection, 10 kilograms of opium and 1 kg of heroin were found in the car. On December 14, 7,800 kilograms of marijuana was found in a bag in the service area of the frontier post in Bahramtapa settlement of Imishli region.
On December 7, 111 grams of heroin, hidden by Lankaran resident Gurbanov Emin Tofig, 22, inside his body, were found and seized at the Astara border-crossing point, on December 9, 180 grams of heroin, hidden by Salyan residents Shahsuvarova Sayyara Elkhan, 31, inside her body, 259 grams of heroin, hidden by Shahsuvarova Farida Elkhan, 55, inside her body, 236 grams of opium, hidden Baku resident Abdullayev Rasim Elshad, 27, under his belt were found and seized at the Bilasuvar border-crossing point.
As a result of measures taken, smuggling of goods totally worth about AZN 846,000, including 1 TOZ-8 rifle, 6 pneumatic air pistols, 20 pneumatic cartridges, 6 brass knuckles, 1 night vision device, 180 dishwashers, 188 mobile phones, 36936 pyrotechnic devices, 76 fireworks, 1392 packets of cigarette, various medicines, alcohol, industrial and agricultural goods were prevented in 64 cases.
