Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov has met a delegation of the Austrian National Council to discuss relations between the two countries.
Asadov hailed Azerbaijan-Austria ties, saying they had ancient roots. The Speaker stressed the role of the two countries’ presidents in expanding bilateral bonds.
“High level reciprocal visits and discussions held during high-level meetings as well as the documents signed established a strong legal framework for overall enhancement of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Austria.
Asadov emphasized the role of parliaments in expanding the bilateral ties.
He also highlighted development processes in Azerbaijan in the last 10 years, and the country`s European integration policy.
On the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Asadov urged the international community to increase efforts towards solving the dispute.
“Armenia continues occupation of 20 per cent of Azerbaijani territories ignoring four resolutions of the United Nations Security Council. But, unfortunately, no sanctions have ever been imposed against Armenia.”
Second President of the Austrian National Council Karlheinz Kopf hailed his country`s relationship with Azerbaijan as rapidly developing.
He also lauded Azerbaijan’s achievements, saying they were made in a short period of time.
Kopf expressed Austria`s readiness to support Azerbaijan`s European integration efforts.
