Azeri minister briefed him about Azerbaijan’s recent economic achievements, saying poverty declined to 6.2% now from 17% in 1995.
According to him, 740 000 new jobs were created over the five years and 132 000 families receive targeted social assistance, about 45% of whom have three and more children and 90% have underage children.
He noted that nearly 70 000 of 245 000 workers employed in construction sector were wageworkers.
He added that Azerbaijan has high-quality labor market from which European companies has just begun to benefit.
Swedish Minister said Azerbaijan’s economic growth has manifested itself in the World Bank reports.
He said his country experienced the problem of unemployment when every five people had no permanent employment.
He said the ministry of employment then undertook a campaign to tackle the problem.
According to him, the problem was chiefly caused by the fact that the employment rate was hidden and the unemployed were left outside of the labor market.
The meeting concluded with a final protocol which, Azeri minister said, will pave the way for the exchange of experience in the field of employment.
