The Government of Azerbaijan and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) have signed an agreement on the implementation of the Project on developing environmentally-friendly farming and increasing institutional skills in Azerbaijan.
FAO Representation in Azerbaijan told APA-Economics that the project will be implemented within the coming two years. The objective of the project is to assess the current state of environmentally-friendly farming, conduct studies on the marketing of environmentally-friendly farming products, improve the current legislation and institutional development, work out national strategic plan on organic farming, organize more effective inspection and certification system on organic farming products.
The documentation center on organic farming will be organized, data on organic farming will be collected and distributed among the farmers, the national potential, technical skills will be strengthened within the framework of the project. These measures will contribute to supplying people with healthy food and protecting the environment through increasing high-quality and safe food products in the country.
