Austria appoints new ambassador to Azerbaijan

Mag. Axel Wech has been appointed Austria’s new ambassador to Azerbaijan, Austrian embassy in Azerbaijan told Trend on Oct.16.

 

Axel Wech will take up his duties as an ambassador on Dec.1, 2014 replacing Sylvia Meyer-Kaibic on this post. Prior to this appointment, he served as Austria’s ambassador to Pakistan since 2010.

 

Wech was born in 1968 in Klagenfurt. He studied Law at University of Graz in Austria. In 1992 Wech was awarded degree of Mag. iur. (L.L.M. – Master of Laws).

 

Wech worked as an attaché at the Austrian embassy in Brussels, Belgium in 1998-1999. He worked at the Austrian Foreign Ministry, Austria’s embassies in India and Brazil and served as the head of the Austrian Tsunami Relief in Sri Lanka in 1999-2000’s.
