Washington DC-based think-tank Atlantic Council will host the Eurasia Leadership Series discussion with Mammadyarov June 3, where the minister will also present his remarks.
Ross Wilson, former ambassador to Azerbaijan, will moderate the discussions with participation of US officials, analysts and journalists.
“Azerbaijan has been an important partner of the United States since regaining its independence in 1991. Key areas of cooperation have included joint work to develop the country’s off-shore energy resources in the Caspian Sea and the pipeline transit infrastructure; collaboration on counterterrorism issues; and support for international efforts in Afghanistan, Iraq and Kosovo. The United States has given strong support to Azerbaijan for democratization and economic modernization reforms, and has been a key participant in the OSCE’s Minsk Group that has worked to mediate a peaceful resolution of the protracted conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh”, the organizers told APA.
During his visit to Washington DC Mr. Mammadyarov will also meet with the Secretary of State Hilary Clinton and other US officials.
