Arson in refugee camp, settled by Azerbaijanis in Germany, is in the focus of Azerbaijani Embassy in Germany

An arson incident in refugee camp settled by Azerbaijanis in Neustadt an der Waldnaab, Bavaria, Germany, is in the focus of Azerbaijani Embassy in Germany, APA reports quoting information released by Azerbaijani Embassy in Germany.

 

 

 

“As previously reported, an arson incident took place in a refugee camp settled by Azerbaijanis in Neustadt an der Waldnaab, Bavaria, Germany on August 21, 2015. As soon as it became aware of the incident, Azerbaijani Embassy in Germany has immediately contacted relevant state agencias of Germany and got some information about the incident”, reads the information.

 

According to the information got from Oberpfalts Main Police Department, 19 people in all – 10 Azerbaijani, 2 Iranian, 2 Ukrainian, 2 Kosovo, 2 Armenia and one Kongo citizens are settled in the building. Three of them are children.

 

 

“According to Chief Police Commissar of Oberpfalts Main Police Department Michael Rebele the fire took place today around 03: 20 a.m and Iranian citizen living in the building first noticed fire smoke from the sitting-room then witnessed that two persons run away. One more person was waiting for them in front of the building. Oberpfalts Police Department added that none of the residents were injured and only the 1st floor of the building was damaged materially for several hundreds of euros.

 

 

According the Police Department, immediately after the arson, a special investigation group were formed at night and the police is currently investigating the incident.

 

Minister of Bavaria Joachim Herrmann did not exclude the factor of xenophobia and noted that they will do their best for the investigation of the issue.

 

The Embassy holds the issue under attention and continues cooperation with German law enforcement bodies for the objective investigation of the issue.
