American Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan elects new President and Members of Board of Directors

American Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan held its Annual General Meeting electing a new President and six new members of the Board of Directors.
Ilgar Veliyev, Managing Partner of Ernst and Young in Azerbaijan is elected as the new President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan. Born in Baku in 1973 Mr Veliyev graduated from the Azerbaijan State Economics University with an Honors Diploma and has joined Ernst & Young in August 1994 being one of the first Azerbaijani’s to work for an international accounting firm. In summer 2007 Ilgar Veliyev has become the first Azerbaijani national to be promoted to the position of partner among international accounting firms. During his carrier with Ernst & Young Ilgar has spent one year working for the Moscow practice (1995-96), and two years working for the UK firm of Ernst & Young (2001-2003). Ilgar is a licensed Azerbaijani Auditor, and a US Certified Public Accountant. Ilgar has been an active member of AMCHAM Board of Directors since March 2007. During this time he held a number of senior leadership roles at AMCHAM serving as Vice-President from April 2009 and the First Vice-President from November 2010. Effective from December 2012 Ilgar served as Acting President of AMCHAM. Ilgar is also the member of the Executive Committee and Head of the Finance Subcommittee of AMCHAM Board of Directors.
Mr Veliyev will be joined on the Board by newly elected Members Vugar Aliyev, Managing Partner, of KPMG Azerbaijan, Farid Ismayilzada, Founder and CEO of GoldenPay, Gunduz Karimov, Partner of Baker&McKenzie-CIS Limited, Kent McNeley, CEO, of Azerfon (Nar Mobile), Mark J Thomas, Vice President, Operations of BP Azerbaijan, Eric Walker, Country Manager of Chevron Azerbaijan and existing Board Members Movlan Pashayev, Managing Partner of PwC Azerbaijan, Teyba Gouliyeva, Head of Representative Office of Societe Generale and Nuran Kerimov, the Managing Partner of Deloitte in Azerbaijan.
