The delegation led by chairman of Caucasian Muslims Board Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh met with speaker of Iran’s parliament Ali Larijani, APA reports quoting IRIBNEWS.
Ali Larijani said that Iran-Azerbaijan relations are more than neighborhood relations.
“Religious and historical ties are the most important basis of the brotherhood of two nations. Iranian authorities support improvement of the cooperation between our countries. Economic cooperation is one of the most important relations between our countries. We should use all the potential of Iran and Azerbaijan to enhance friendship. Enhancing religious awareness in Azerbaijan can contribute to the country’s development and prosperity and lead to stability and strengthening. The stronger the nation’s religious background, the better it will protect Azerbaijan’s interests,” he said.
Speaker of Iran’s parliament expressed his gratitude to Allahshukur Pashazadeh for his efforts to raise religious awareness in Azerbaijan.
Allahshukur Pashazadeh underlined that the relations between two countries are based on deep friendship, brotherhood and religious ties. “The Azerbaijani people will never forget Iran’s support in hard times. Much has been done in Azerbaijan regarding religious awareness since the country gained independence,” he said.

The delegation led by Allahshukur Pashazadeh has been on a visit to Iran since May 18. The members of Azerbaijan-Iran interparliamentary friendship group are also visiting this country. Meetings have been held with Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili.
