The summer session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will be held on June 22-26. The main theme of the session will be the election of new Secretary General, APA reports. New Secretary General of the Council of Europe will be elected on June 23-24. The situation in Belarus, global financial crisis and its influence on international economic organizations will be discussed, John Greenway will make a report on the theme “Europe’s forgotten people: protecting the human rights of long-term displaced persons” on June 23-24.
John Greenway visited Azerbaijan and Armenia to prepare the report. The functioning of democratic institutions in Armenia will also be discussed on June 24. Environmental problems, renewable energy resources will be discussed on June 25. Cecilia Keaveney, rapporteur of the Committee on Culture, Science and Education will make a report on the theme “History teaching in conflict and post-conflict areas” on June 26.
