All conflicts must be solved in accordance with the principle f territorial integrity, said the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Pedro Agramunt.
He made the remarks in his opening speech at the PACE autumn on Oct. 10, APA’s correspondent reported from Strasbourg.
Speaking of the situation in Ukraine, the PACE president stressed the importance of solving conflicts in all member states.
“All conflicts must be resolved within the territorial integrity of states, and once again I remind all of you, that no conflict can be settled, nor can any state border be changed, except on the basis of mutual consent,” he added.
Agramunt emphasized that the conflicts in Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Moldova as well as Crimea’s annexation are absolutely unacceptable.
“As Europeans, we are supposed to settle conflicts that exist in the common area we live in,” said the PACE president. “The parliamentary diplomacy in this respect is an adequate means of encouraging political talks. We need to discuss the opinions separating us, and we should do it face to face so that we can find solutions together.”
