Over 1,400 journalists accredited at European Games in Baku

Over 630 local journalists and 800 foreign media representatives have been accredited to cover the first European Games in Baku, the Baku European Games Operating Committee announced on May 4.

 

The media representatives of 50 countries, including Russia, Turkey, Great Britain, France and Germany have been registered. The registration process ended on April 3.

 

Some 500 journalists and 250 photographers will cover the opening and closing ceremonies of the European Games.

 

The media representatives will be able to receive the accreditation cards from May 29. But the local media representatives will be able to get them in the accreditation center, to be opened in the coming days.

 

A special notification will be sent for the foreign media representatives to be able to obtain a visa upon arrival in Azerbaijan and to get to work. The foreign journalists will be able to obtain the accreditation cards in a special section at the airport.

 

Baku 2015 is the first-ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent that will take place on June 12-28, 2015.

 

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

 

Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
