“Financial funds allocated for the Council on State Support to Non-governmental Organizations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan should be increased”, said the Vice-Speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament Bahar Muradova in the discussion of budget package for 2015 at the plenary meeting.
She noted that the civil society in Azerbaijan is developing: “As every sphere has its own model, the civil society already has an Azerbaijan model. The Council on State Support to NGOs has held up to 20 events this year. AZN 6 mln is not sufficient for the Council. I don’t know how much, but I know that the funds allocated for the Council should be increased. I support more restriction of activity of foreign donors in Azerbaijan. However, it should be easier to get funds from local donors”.
MP Yevda Abramov said he also supports increase of funds allocated to the Council: “The funds allocated for NGOs should be increased that they can work. IT’s needed”.
