Around $20 billion was invested in Azerbaijan’s transport sector over the last 10 years, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Transport, Musa Panahov said during the opening of the TransCaspian and Road &Traffic exhibitions in Baku on June 12.
These investments were made to develop the road transport infrastructure, building of bridges, crossings, viaducts, airports, a new port, and for purchasing vehicles, according to the deputy minister.
Panahov underscored that as many as 250 tunnels, bridges and viaducts were repaired, reconstructed and constructed, as well as six airports were built in Azerbaijan over the last ten years.
He went on to add that the investments in the transport sector are made not only from the state funds, but also by attracting loans from international financial institutions.
