A swearing-in ceremony of President-elect of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko was held at the Verkhovna Rada on June 7.
An Azerbaijani delegation led by Speaker of the Parliament Ogtay Asadov and the country`s Ambassador to Ukraine Eynulla Madatli participated in the ceremony.
Petro Poroshenko at a solemn session of the Verkhovna Rada took the oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people on the Peresopnytsia Gospel.
Thereafter Poroshenko received the certificate of taking the office of President and official symbols of the head of state – the Sign of the President of Ukraine, Seals and the Mace. Immediately thereafter, the President signed the oath and gave it to Chairman of the Constitutional Court Yuriy Baulin.
Central Election Commission Chairman Mykhailo Okhendovsky handed the Credentials of the President of Ukraine over to Poroshenko, and the Ukrainian National Honoured Academic Choir named after Veriovka performed the Prayer for Ukraine.
Ogtay Asadov passed on greetings and congratulations of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Petro Poroshenko on the occasion of his election as President of Ukraine.
Petro Poroshenko thanked the Azerbaijani President for congratulations.
