Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov attended the meeting of the North Atlantic Council with Non-NATO ISAF Contributing Nations at the level of Defense Ministers in Brussels.
The current state and transition process of ISAF operation, progress on placing a security responsibility on the Afghan National Security Forces, the presidential elections and the current situation in Afghanistan, NATO’s new mission in Afghanistan after 2014 and the state of the needed legal framework for its starting and a positive impact of the number of forces recently stated by the U.S. Resolute Support mission on the planning of this mission were discussed at the meeting.
As part of his visit to NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Hasanov held a bilateral meeting with U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel and trilateral meeting with his Turkish and Georgian counterparts
