“The world order has changed over the past 20 years, but the principles should be preserved.
As a result of the Second World War, the principles of the international law were defined. The principles should be taken as a basis in the settlement of conflicts,” Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, Chairman of the CoE Committee of Minister, Elmar Mammadyarov said in his speech at the meeting of PACE Standing Committee, APA reports.
Mammadyarov said that the intensification of contacts between people plays a role in resolving conflicts: “On the other hand, there is a need for economic development and social welfare. But we need to remain committed to the principles to resolve conflict.”
Mammadyarov invited PACE President Anne Brasseur and other PACE members to often visit Azerbaijan: “You said that within two years you will not come to Azerbaijan, no PACE events will be there, but I invite you and PACE members to Azerbaijan”.
Anne Brasseur said that she would insist on meeting with the arrested persons: “I want to see these people when they are released.”
