European Court to announce judgment on Azerbaijani Gunduz Eminbayli’s application against Russia, February 26

European Court of Human Rights will announce the judgment on the application of Azerbaijani Gunduz Eminbayli against Russia on February 26, APA reports quoting the official website of the European Court. Gunduz Eminbayli, 53, is living in Switzerland, he is a stateless person.
He left Azerbaijan for Russia in February, 1996. He was given refugee status and the right to move to Switzerland. In September, 2001, on demand of Azerbaijan, Russian law-enforcement bodies arrested him for extradition. Gunduz Eminbayli was released in October, 2001.

Eminbayli appealed to the court saying that his arrest was illegal and violated the right to freedom and personal inviolability reflected in the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
