Iraqi journalist Muntazer al-Zaidi, who threw shoes at US President George Bush seeks political asylum in Switzerland because he feared of danger to his life in Baghdad prison, said his lawyer, APA reports.
“I shall write this week to the federal department (ministry) of foreign affairs to encourage Switzerland to grant him political asylum,” said the lawyer. Al-Zaidi intends to settle in Geneva and to work as a journalist at the United Nations. His brother said al-Zaidi was tortured at prison and his several ribs were broken.
