The Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine has ousted Arseniy Yatseniuk as Speaker. 233 MPs out of 350 registered in the session hall voted for this decision, APA reports quoting UNIAN agency. In particular, Arseniy Yatseniuk’s resignation has been supported by 175 MPs of the Party of Regions faction, 1- from BYuT, 10 – from Our Ukraine – People’s Self-Defense, 27 – from CPU, and 20 – from Lytvyn’s Bloc. The voting was carried out through Rada voting system and not by means of secret ballots, as stipulated by the parliamentary regulations.
Before the voting, members of Party of Regions and BYuT factions have blocked the entrance to the room where “Rada” voting system mainframe is situated. Earlier BYuT and Party of Regions lawmaker penetrated into the room with parliament’s mainframe, scuffled there and broke the glass screens and door of the room. Top Deputy Speaker Oleksander Lavrynovych (Party of Regions), who chairs the plenary session, called on the general prosecutor to take measures against the hooligan lawmakers.
