Observation group composed of European parliamentarians and politicians held a press conference on the results of their observation in the presidential elections, APA reports.

MP from Belgium Alain Destexhe said observation group composed of 541 parliamentarians from 11 European countries followed the voting in 320 polling stations in Baku, Sumgayit, Lankaran and Guba.
“OSCE Parliamentary Assembly did not send official observation group to Azerbaijan. Observation group composed of parliamentarians of European countries regret this decision,” he said.

Alain Destexhe said according to international observers the elections were calm.
“Counting of votes was normal. No serious problems were observed during the elections. There was no contradiction among the results in the polling stations. That’s why the results should be considered legal,” he said.

Alain Destexhe said Azerbaijan was located in the tense region and noted that holding such elections should be considered praiseworthy.
