Azerbaijani and Armenian Foreign Ministers are expected to meet in New York within the framework of the 63rd session of UN General Assembly, Russia co-chair of OSCE Minsk Group Yuri Merzlyakov told APA.
He said that the possibility of holding the meeting was discussed during the meeting of Elmar Mammadyarov and Edward Nalbandian in Moscow on August 1. Yuri Merzlyakov said the date of the meeting planned to take place in New York had not been fixed yet. He also noted that the co-chairs were expected to visit the region. Russia co-chair also took a stance on Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan’s recent proposal.
“I understood that Foreign Ministers of Turkey and Armenia are expected to meet in New York. But if the question is trilateral meeting of Babacan, Nalbandian and Mammadyarov, this is a very good case, we would only be glad,” he said.
The co-chair said it was not right to speak about changing the format of the negotiations under the present circumstances.
