September 15, 1918 Caucasian Islamic Army led by Nuru Pasha and the Azerbaijani Baku body released from Armenian- Bolshevik occupation. Thus was secured the independence of Azerbaijan, put an end to the occupation of Baku and surrounding areas by the Armenians and Bolsheviks.
Liberation of Baku from the Armenian- Bolshevik occupation is one of the most valiant pages of Azerbaijan history of the twentieth century. Ottoman Turkey, despite its difficult situation, to restore the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan sent here Caucasus Islamic Army led by Nuru Pasha. Despite protests from European countries to the entry of Turkish troops in Azerbaijan, in August- September 1918, Ottoman Turkey was not neglected by the fraternal and not left in the lurch our country. It dignity fulfilled its historic mission. With the successful completion of 15 September Ottomans mission of liberation, the liberation from the occupation of Baku, was introduced fraternal contribution to the establishment of the Azerbaijani state. After massive and historic victory of the Government of the Azerbaijan capital of the People’s Republic of Sept. 17 has been moved from Ganja to Baku. The Ottoman army during the operation to free the Baku lost 1,130 soldiers.
After Azerbaijan gained independence, the next, every year on September 15th at the state level are visited graves of Turkish soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of our country. This happens not only in Baku but also in Shamakhi, Goychay and other areas. Each year in the Alley of Martyrs at the monument to fallen soldiers held a memorial ceremony. Despite the intervening years, the fraternal help the Turkish army will never be forgotten will always remember with gratitude the people of Azerbaijan.
