4th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue kicks off in Baku

The 4th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue kicked off in Baku on May 4.

 

The forum on the theme “Advancing Intercultural Dialogue – New avenues for human security, peace and sustainable development” is organized in cooperation with UNESCO, the UN Alliance of Civilizations, the UN World Tourism Organization (WTO), the Council of Europe, the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the North-South Center of the Council of Europe, APA reported.

 

The Second Academic Forum of UNESCO Chairs working in the field of intercultural and interreligious dialogue will be convened and the third meeting of the International Network for the UNESCO Silk Road Online Platform will be held within the forum.

 

Following the official opening ceremony of the forum on May 5, discussions will be conducted in the plenary session on “promoting dialogue and building bridges as a tool to preventing violent extremism” and high level meeting of international organizations will be held.

 

The agenda will include topics such as the role of faith, religions, migration, human security, sport, education, art, sustainable development, preventing violent extremism, business in building trust and cooperation among cultures and civilizations.

 

World Forum Ministerial Meeting, high level meeting on “Countering Violent Extremism through Girls’ Education” will be held on May 6. Then, sessions on “BUILDING PEACE: 70 years of UN action – towards a culture of prevention”, “Inclusive Dialogue in an Age of Polarization: how to make it work?”, “Heydar Aliyev & Interreligious harmony in Azerbaijan”, “Sports for intercultural dialogue and peace”, “Cultivating peaceful relations through Intercultural Dialogue”, “Building inclusive societies and peaceful coexistence: An ASEAN perspective”, “The Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe as networks for intercultural dialogue” will be held.

 

The 2nd plenary session on “Intercultural dialogue for food security and community resilience: Essential elements in achieving sustainable development and peace” will be also held within the forum.
