Azerbaijan, Turkey stress importance of intensifying joint anti-terror efforts

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov on Wednesday received Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkey Umit Yalcin.

 

Pointing to friendly and fraternal ties between the two countries, the sides hailed the steady development of the strategic partnership, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told APA.

 

Umit Yalcin expressed gratitude to Minister Mammadyarov for Azerbaijan’s resolute stance with regard to the recent developments in Turkey.

 

Mammadyarov once again expressed his deepest condolences to the people and leadership of Turkey over the recent terrorist acts in the country.

 

The sides stressed the importance of increasing joint anti-terrorism efforts by Azerbaijan and Turkey.

 

They also praised the Azerbaijani-Turkish cooperation and the two countries’ supporting each other’s positions within the international organizations.

 

Minister Mammadyarov gave information about the negotiation process on the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, noting that Azerbaijan highly appreciates Turkey’s fair position, guided by the norms and principles of international law, regarding the conflict’s settlement

 

They emphasized that the earliest start of operation of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway will promote the development of regional cooperation and lead a further increase in the trade turnover between the two countries.

 

The sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues.
