The Azerbaijani and Kazakh defense ministries signed a cooperation plan for 2016 in Astana on Nov. 4, the Azerbaijani defense ministry told Trend.
Azerbaijani Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov met with his Kazakh counterpart Imangali Tasmagambetov in Kazakhstan, the ministry announced.
Tasmagambetov said that at this stage, special attention must be paid to the establishment of practical ties between the naval forces of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
“This will strengthen security in the Caspian Sea,” he stated. “This (objective) is in line with the agreements reached by the presidents of the Caspian littoral countries at high-level meetings.”
Hasanov expressed readiness to conduct joint exercises, stressing that Azerbaijan had experience in hosting joint exercises with Kazakhstan.
“Such events contribute to the mutual enrichment of our military’s experience,” he said.
Tasmagambetov invited Hasanov to visit the KADEKS-2016 international exhibition of arms and military equipment, to be held in Astana.
The ministers stressed the importance of relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, focusing on the development of military cooperation, mutual exchange of experience, and staff training.
