Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Amin Madani has presented reports on political and cultural, social and family issues at the 42nd Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Kuwait.
The 40th paragraph of the report on political issues is titled “Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan”.
According to the report, since the latest session of the foreign ministers, no political progress has been achieved with regard to the issues of the Azerbaijani territories occupied by Armenia.
The document says that more than one million Azerbaijanis became refugees and internally displaced persons as a result of the Armenian aggression, demanding the immediate, unconditional and full withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
Moreover, the OIC secretary general, in his report, calls on the member states to, in accordance with the OIC’s resolution, submit their proposals and recommendations regarding the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia.
Paragraph “C” of the report on cultural, social and family issues is called “Destruction of monuments of Islamic history and culture in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan as a result of Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan”.
The secretary general, in his report, called on relevant specialized institutions of the OIC to develop a program for reconstruction of mosques, educational institutions, libraries and museums after liberation of the Azerbaijani territories. The report also says that on the request of the secretary general, the protection of Islamic architectural patterns and places of worship was included in the programs of specialized organizations of the OIC, Islamic Development Bank and ISESCO.
The 42nd session of the OIC Foreign Ministers Council that started on Wednesday will last two days. Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov is also attending the session.
