State of Louisiana celebrates Republic Day of Azerbaijan

Baton Rouge city of the U.S. state of Louisiana has held an event dedicated to the national holiday of Azerbaijan – Republic Day – with the participation of members of the Senate and House of Representatives of Louisiana.

 

The event organized by the Assembly of the Friends of Azerbaijan (AFAZ) took place at the Senate. The event was attended by the state’s Lieutenant Governor Elbert Lee Guillory, senators Francis Thompson and Gerald Long, members of the House of Representatives Clay Schexnayder, Joe Harrison and Roy Burrell.

 

Recalling his visit to Azerbaijan in 1983, Elbert Lee Guillory, in his speech, said Azerbaijan is of particular hospitality. He also noted that during military operations in Afghanistan, hundreds of US military managed to survive thanks to the role of Azerbaijan.

 

“Azerbaijan continues making huge contribution to Europe’s energy security,” the Lieutenant Governor added.

 

Addressing the event, representative of the Azerbaijani Embassy in the US, Natig Bakhishov spoke about the Azerbaijani-US relations and joint cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy and international security.
