Azerbaijan’s emergency situations ministry evacuated the nationals of Azerbaijan and Georgia from the disaster zone in Nepal, previously hit by a devastating earthquake, said the ministry in a message May 1.
On May 1, the plane carrying 13 Azerbaijani nationals and four Georgian nationals, landed at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku.
An earthquake measuring 7.9 occurred on April 25 in Nepal. The first tremors were followed by several aftershocks.
The quake’s epicenter was located 82 kilometers north-west of the capital Kathmandu. Its center was at a depth of 15 kilometers.
On April 26, Nepal was again hit by a series of aftershocks; the magnitude of the most powerful of them was 6.7.
