Ali Hasanov: Azerbaijan is not inferior to any country for state of democracy

Today, Azerbaijan is not inferior to any country for the state of human rights, democracy, freedoms of speech, information and assembly.

Ali Hasanov, Assistant to the Azerbaijani President for Public and Political Affairs, told journalists, commenting on the anti-Azerbaijani campaigns under way on the eve of the first European Games, APA reported.

Hasanov said today, anti-Islamic and anti-Turkish trends and a policy of double standards prevail in the West, noting that all these clearly manifest themselves in the activities of the European politicians, international organizations, as well as some human rights organizations.

“These trends are especially visible in relation to Azerbaijan and Turkey. We think that the Azerbaijani society is well aware of what is happening. Our people understand that the opinions and statements about our country are unfounded. These just aims to reduce the effectiveness of Azerbaijan’s successes and the values that we want to demonstrate to the world. I am sure that such attempts will remain inconclusive. We know the realities and have enough potential to inform the world about them. Azerbaijan has apparently developed successfully for 20 years. Azerbaijan’s merits to the world culture, politics and economy are obvious. No one can deny it. Besides, no one can blame Azerbaijan for the alleged drawbacks”, he said.

Hasanov said all rights and freedoms have been ensured in Azerbaijan, adding that such smear campaigns will fail.
