Another meeting of the Joint Working Group on Human Rights Issues has been held in Baku.
The meeting arranged at the Parliament of Azerbaijan, brought together head of department for work with law-enforcement bodies of Presidential Administration Fuad Alasgarov, Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee for International Relations and Interparliamentary Ties Samad Seyidov, as well as members of the Group, MPs, and officials of the Ministry of Justice and Prosecutor’s Office and the representatives of NGOs.
Mr. Seyidov highlighted the activity of the Working Group, adding the representatives of the NGOs, which included to the Group actively acted on the human rights issues.
Head of department for work with law-enforcement bodies of Presidential Administration Fuad Alasgarov said members of the Working Group bilaterally acted and exchanged views, and took relevant steps on solving the issues. He also said they tried the activity of Working Group to be more efficient. Mr. Alasgarov noted they held useful cooperation with the Special Representative of Secretary General of the Council of Europe. Mr. Alasgarov said Secretary General of Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland praised the activity of the Working Group.
Special Representative of Secretary General of the Council of Europe Alexander Gessel stressed the importance of the works done, adding Azerbaijani society was interested in the activity of the Working Group. He said the Secretary General of the Council of Europe also followed the activity of the Working Group.
Mr. Gessel said the Working Group, clearly, in the atmosphere of mutual respect assisted the members of the civil society, as well as the representatives of state structures to find the settlement of the several issues.
Member of the Group MP, Chingiz Ganizade thanked the Head of State for his humanism. MP Azay Guliyev said the unique mechanism of dialogue was established in Azerbaijani society.
The Speakers of the event said the Group was efficient mechanism in the issues related to the human rights. They praised the last six-moth activity of the Working Group.
