Mansour Ayrim has been appointed as Iran’s new consul general to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, IRNA news agency reported Jan.28.
Ayrim has met with the representatives of the Aras free economic zone located on Iranian territory bordering Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, the newly appointed consul general said there are favorable conditions for expanding relations with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in economic, trade, social and cultural spheres.
He said that Azerbaijani and Iranian presidents met four times in 2014, adding that these meetings and reciprocal official visits have created opportunities to develop and expand the relations between the two neighboring countries.
Mansour Ayrim will take up his duties in March.
