Baku City Executive Authority has signed a protocol on cooperation with Rio de Janeiro.
Azerbaijani Ambassador to Brazil Elnur Sultanov and Chief of International Relations Department at Rio de Janeiro City Mayor’s Office Laudemar Aguiar inked the document that will see the two cities strengthen the bilateral ties in a variety of areas.
Speaking to the signing ceremony held in Rio de Janeiro, Elnur Sultanov noted that Azerbaijan’s relations with Brazil are improving in many areas. The Ambassador said the protocol will contribute to the development of relations between the two cities.
The diplomat highlighted Baku’s history and culture, and forthcoming international events in the Azerbaijani capital, including the first European Games.
Laudemar Aguiar said he shares Mr Sultanov’s views about the signed document. He noted Baku’s rapid progress raises interest of City Mayor’s Office in Rio de Janeiro. Laudemar Aguiar noted that the experience exchange between Baku and Rio de Janeiro will be beneficial especially in organizing international events.
Mr Aguiar talked about the city’s history, and highlighted the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. He said the city marks its 450th anniversary this year.
Ambassador Sultanov handed Mr Aguiar books about Baku and the first edition of the European Games stamps.
