Azerbaijan`s Ambassador to Jordan Sabir Aghabayov has met members of Azerbaijan-Jordan Brotherhood Society at Jordan`s Upper House of Parliament.
They discussed how to develop cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries.
Head of the Society Muhammad Al-Sgur stressed the importance of reciprocal visits and holding the meetings in terms of the development of interparliamentary ties.
Mr. Aghabayov said the diplomatic relations between the two countries were founded by national leader Heydar Aliyev and King Hussein of Jordan, and praised the services of President Ilham Aliyev and Abdullah II of Jordan in developing these ties.
The diplomat noted the significance of friendly relations between the Heads of States and nations of both countries. He also said Azerbaijan was interested in expanding relations with Arabic and Islamic states, especially with Jordan.
The Ambassador also highlighted the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the 20 January tragedy, and thanked the Senate of Jordan for adopting a statement on the Khojaly massacre.
