Germany is focusing attention on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the German Foreign Ministry’s official website said, APA reports.

The statement says State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office Stephan Steinlein held a meeting with OSCE MG co-chairs Pierre Andrieu (France), Igor Popov (Russia), James Warlick (U.S.) as well as OSCE chairman-in-office special envoy Andrzej Kasprzyk on December 12.

“During the meeting, the sides discussed possible political solutions to the conflict which has been continuing for more 20 years already, a more active involvement of the European Union in the process of building confidence and settling the conflict. Since 1992, the OSCE Minsk Group has been leading the process of looking for a political settlement to the conflict over the Armenian-occupied Nagorno-Karabakh region, which belongs to Azerbaijan in accordance with international law. The co-chairs hold secret talks in this regard with the conflict sides – Azerbaijan and Armenia. There have been numerous meetings with the participation of both countries’ presidents over the last few months. At the same time, in 2014, the number of causalities on the line of contact has apparently increased and an Armenian military helicopter was downed by Azerbaijan on November 12”.
