“I hope that the Armenian delegation to UNESCO will evaluate Azerbaijan’s generosity and avoid confrontation,” said Turkey’s representative to UNESCO Huseyin Avni Botsali, APA reports.
He said despite Armenia trying to list lavash as its national non-material heritage, Turkey has stressed that lavash is an example of regional nations’ cuisine.
“In general, the Azerbaijani and Turkish delegations to UNESCO are working together, sharing information on a regular basis, consulting with each other. UNESCO’s activity is not confined to the cultural area alone. It also covers some other important issues like education and regional peace as well. And we, alongside Azerbaijan, share our proposals and ideas in this respect. Our common activity is of huge importance to the strengthening of peace in the region,” he noted.
