International seminar on “Assessment of disability in Azerbaijan: current achievements and future steps” has started in Baku, organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection and the World Bank. Disability and rehabilitation specialists of World Health Organization and World Bank, representatives of the relevant government agencies, as well international organizations operating in Azerbaijan take part at the event.
The workshop aims definition of disability in Azerbaijan and to analyze medical and social rehabilitation system together with experts from international organizations, as well to become familiar with the world’s progressive experience in this field.
The two-day seminar will discuss improvement of criteria of the assessment of disability, also necessary reforms on transition process of medical model to social model.
Minister of Labor and Social Protection Salim Muslumov wished success to the seminar and informed about the conditions established for the convenience of disability.
Andro Shilakadze, UNICEF representative in Azerbaijan and representatives of the World Bank addressed the workshop participants.
Seminar continued with the reports of local and international experts.
